Local Construction Industry Resources

By Jerry Quintos, CPA, Director
ASL Construction Group

Are you a construction industry company utilizing all your local resources here in Silicon Valley? Most of you probably are, but some of you… perhaps not. I’m thinking about the Construction Financial Management Association of Silicon Valley (CFMA), Builders’ Exchange of Santa Clara County (Builders’ Exchange), and the Construction Group here at Abbott, Stringham & Lynch (ASL).

Both trade organizations mentioned above offer:

  • Education – A sample of the topics they offer include learning how to improve job performance and cost control; maximizing profitability; better understanding of risk management, mechanics liens, OSHA requirements and surety relationships; and construction company financials in general.
  • Events – A sample of their networking events include Octobeerfest; Spring Wine Tasting; and Family Day at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.
  • Publications – CFMA’s Building Profits is a magazine dedicated to construction financial professionals and management; the Builders’ Exchange Weekly Bulletin contains benefit information available to members, Tailgate Topic articles, lists local projects out to bid, and includes additional useful announcements and advice.
